Non-Muslims students and professors at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside had the chance to try and learn how to wear the hijab (headscarf) this past week at World Fest.

The hijab (headscarf) is one of the most noticeable and misunderstood badges of Muslim women. But there is much more to the Islamic dress code for women than the hijab. It’s a total package that deals with clothing, behavior, and demeanor. 


The hijab experience for students and professors was remarkable. Many felt that they actually felt more secure of their self-image by having the hijab on. The happiness in the students and professors eyes was phenomenal. One student found the hijab experience so refreshing that she said she would consider covering her hair even though she wasn’t Muslim. This was truly an enlightening experience.
