Dynamite interior presence ignited by junior middle hitter Tami Gleason’s nine kills would cap off a successful weekend for the Rangers.
“With volleyball it’s easy to get comfortable at only feeding the outside hitters,” said Parkside head coach Michele Benoit. “We executed our quick attacks in the middle which resulted in a more versatile offense.”
Fresh off a victory in Saturday afternoon’s early match over Northwest Missouri, Parkside hosted the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles in the finale of their four-game Friday and Saturday tournament.

Behind senior middle-hitter Jennifer Johnson’s leadership and eight kills, the Rangers broke out the brooms with a 3-0 sweep. Following a humbling loss at the hands of Mankato Friday night, the Rangers entered Saturday afternoon’s match against Northwest Missouri prepared to start a new nine-match winning streak. They hosted the Bearcats in the third match of the UW-Parkside Invitational and made short work of their opponents.
“We executed our game plan and kept the ball away from their impact players,” said a pleased coach Parkside coach Michele Benoit.

Ranked #15 in the nation among Division II collegiate schools, Mankato women’s volleyball squad thrived behind sophomore setter Brittany Stammer’s astounding 55 assists. The Parkside Rangers (9-1) entered Friday night against powerhouse Minnesota State Mankato (7-1) on a nine-match winning streak and a record of 1-0 in the UW-Parkside Rangers Volleyball Invitational. Dominating in almost every category, the Mavericks rolled to a 3-1 win over the Rangers.
Parkside opened the day with a convincing victory over St. Cloud State 3-1.

Michele Benoit’s home debut as women’s volleyball coach at Parkside would result in such dramatic fashion one could only expect out of a fairy tale ending. The Rangers extended their seven-match winning streak to eight Thursday night at UW Parkside in Kenosha by avoiding an upset of the Winona State University Warriors (2-7) by a close count of 3-2. The victory marked Benoit’s first home victory as part of the staff and put Parkside’s ability to maintain their poise to the ultimate test.
“It wasn’t the first time we’ve been put in this situation and came out on top,” said an exhausted Benoit. “They just need to refrain from giving me a heart attack.”

Sophomore midfielder Spencer Bursten’s goal and two assists lead the Rangers to a 4-1 route over the visiting Eagles in convincing fashion. Parkside’s men’s soccer team hosted Robert Morris University-Illinois on a crisp Monday afternoon at Kenosha’s Wood Road Complex. For the large quantity of incoming freshmen in attendance, the Rangers left a positive impression.
“It’s essential that we perform at a high level to encourage young students to come out,” said Parkside’s head coach Rick Kilps. “Executing and putting on a good show in the process are the best ways to accomplish this.”
