The University of Wisconsin – Parkside women’s basketball team put together a respectable season with a 13-14 overall record. This was Coach Jacob Yorg’s third season of being the head coach. He has a 43-40 overall record with the team.
The Rangers played competitive games all season with eight of their 14 losses coming in games decided by six points or fewer. They succeeded in outscoring their opponents 1764 to 1705 and out-rebounded them 1006 to 908 on the season.
The Rangers’ last game of the season was in the first round of the GLVC Tournament with a 62-73 loss at Rockhurst University who had a record of 15-12 on the season. The Rangers held a 32-27 lead at the half, but were unable to hold on. The Rangers were led by Brittney Fair with 16 points and 2 rebounds. Stephanie Furr contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds and Jessica Prince chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The team got great production from Stephanie Furr, Kristin Conniff, Tara Knapstein, Jessica Prince, and Shelby Cheston.
Furr, a senior forward, averaged 13.1 points per game, with a .449 shooting percentage from the field. She held the team high in steals (32), and ended second overall in rebounds with 144 on the season.
Conniff, a senior guard, finished strong as the team’s 2nd leading scorer averaging 11 points per game, had a team high 44 three-point field goals, made shooting .352 from behind the arc, and was second on the team with 49 free throws made.
Knapstein, a senior guard and forward, blocked 13 shots this season and averaged 10 points per game. She also led the team with 71 assists, 2nd in steals with 31, and 1st in free throws made with 50.
Prince, a senior center, was dominant in the paint. Leading the team with 174 rebounds and chipping in 10 blocks. Cheston, a sophomore center, was also a solid contributor this season adding 99 rebounds, shooting a team high .581 from the field and led the team with 24 blocked shots.
