Women’s basketball set to compete in GLVC tournament

The UW- Parkside Women’s basketball team finished out the  regular season on February 25th against the 27-1 Lewis University Flyers. The Rangers lost another close game falling to the Flyers 66-60 to finish the season with a 13-13 record, 7-11 in the conference. The Rangers were led by Stephanie Furr who tallied 17 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist. Kristin Conniff contributed 14 points 1 steal, 1 block, and 1 assist. Also making an impact was Brittany Fair with 13 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Rangers earned the 10th seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament. They will play #7 Rockhurst on Sunday February 28th in Kansas City, Missouri at 1 P.M. If the Rangers win their first round contest they move on to St. Charles, Missouri. The quarterfinals will be played on March 3rd, semifinals on March 5th, and the championship on March 6th. The winner of this tournament earns an automatic NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament berth.

The top team in each region gets to host the first three rounds of the tournament. Eight teams are chosen from each region are to compete in the tournament. The Midwest Region is made up of the GLVC, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
