The UW-Parkside men’s basketball team finished out the regular season on February 25th with a victory over the Lewis University Flyers, 85-77, to end the year with a 22-4 record. Alexander brown led the Rangers in scoring with 19 points, 1 assist and 4 steals. Kendale McCullum had a productive game adding 15 points, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Andy Mazurczak finished out his regular season career with a solid effort scoring 14 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Kyle Flanagan dominated the boards with 9 rebounds.
With the win the Rangers earned their 4th GLVC East Division crown and the 3rd seed in the GLVC Championship Tournament, with a 15-3 conference record, which gives them a first round bye and automatically moves them on to the quarterfinals; being held on Friday March 4th in St, Charles, Missouri. Their opponent will not be determined until the completion of the first round of the tournament which takes place on Sunday February 28th. Provided the Rangers win their March 4th contest they will play again on March 5th in a semifinals contest. With a win in that game the Rangers will play for the GLVC Championship on March 6th at 3:30 P.M. The winner of this tournament earns an automatic NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament berth.
The top team in each region gets to host the first three rounds of the tournament. Eight teams are chosen from each region are to compete in the tournament. The Midwest Region is made up of the GLVC, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
