Beginning this semester, a new branch of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be opening here at the University of Wisconsin—Parkside! Enrollment is $3 per person, and has been opened to all University students and employees.
Applications were accepted at the Student Org Fair on Feb 12. For possible late admission, you may contact president and organizer of the event Libby Chernouski at firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the semester, enrolled students will team up with other witches and wizards from their houses (Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin) to compete for the house cup. In order to earn points for their house, students are encouraged to participate in activities such as donating, volunteering and attending various on campus events.
The first event for the semester was a sorting ceremony on Feb. 19 at noon in the Poplar room of the Student Center. During the ceremony, students will be sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses.
Following the sorting ceremony will be wand-making on March 6 at 12:30 PM, also in the Poplar room; game night, on Friday April 4 at 6:30 pm; a wizarding duel (trivia), on April 30; a Quidditch tournament; awarding of the house cup; and more events to be announced. Sigma Tau Delta-Tau Psi, UW-Parkside’s Chapter of the International English Honor Society, will be hosting these Hogwarts events. In its entirety, the event is focused on promoting creative expression, scholastic excellence and literacy.
