It’s the story of any college kid’s life. Late, homework filled nights, no sleep and cheap, nasty food. Ask any student what the worst part of that killer combination is, and almost every time they would say “The food!” The food at any school has at least one of two problems: price and quality. Luckily here at our campus, Sodexo food service has come to the rescue to keep students happy with good quality food at an affordable price. But what are you going to do when you are in your dorm, hard at work on a huge pile of homework due tomorrow, and your hunger suddenly attacks you? You certainly can’t leave your dorm and skip out on homework, and you know you can’t work on a hungry stomach. What will you ever do? Well, Sodexo has solved that problem as well with their new delivery service of their Fiery Hearth Pizzas.
For the scoop on this hot deal, I spoke with Mrs. Angela Jensen, the General Manager of Sodexo here at Parkside, and the story goes like this. This program was started in the summer of 2010 when the faculty noticed a vast amount of empty pizza boxes on campus. Inspired, Sodexo decided to reinstate a pizza delivering service, which last graced the Parkside Campus around a decade ago. The service runs from 7 p.m. until 11p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. They accept 4 forms of payment: Cash, Campus Cash, your Meal plan; they also accept credit card orders, but only over the phone. Now here is some info on the grub. These scrumptious Fourteen-inch pizzas are now delivered fresh and hot to your dorm, apartment or suite for just the amazingly low price of twelve dollars! I would say this is a great deal already, but on top of that steal of a price the delivery is free!
The $12.00 price is very competitive with the local vendors such as Papa John’s, Pizza Hut and Domino’s who all charge a delivery fee. The average delivery time is 30 minutes to an hour. In addition to that, Sodexo Pizza charges one flat rate for all standard toppings, when the big pizza chains charge for additional toppings. To place an order, just call 595-2601, and if the line is busy call back because orders are not taken through messages left on their voicemail. Even though this program is already offering five-star service, there is much room for growth.
When I asked about the future of this program, Mrs. Jensen only had more good news. As the program becomes more popular it will grow in varieties of food offered. New ideas for food that could be delivered in the future include chicken wings, calzones and even beverages. These varieties would only help solidify Sodexo’s great deals in the food delivery service, but will only come with more business of the pizza service already in place. In the mean time this great pizza service offers great pizza for an even better price so next time you are hanging out with your friends in your dorm or studying late at night don’t eat out, order in with Sodexo’s new affordable delivery pizzas! Enjoy!
